For Clinicians: Partner with Accelerate ACL

For Physical Therapists & Physicians

Accelerate ACL works alongside your practice to help your patients achieve faster, more complete recoveries.

How We Work Together

We don't replace you. We complement you.

Accelerate ACL is designed to work alongside your existing ACL rehab programs, not replace them. While you handle manual therapy, gait training, and return-to-sport testing in your clinic, we provide:

  • Neuromuscular re-education using the Volta X direct current device
  • Virtual training sessions 2-3x per week to accelerate quad activation and ROM
  • Progress tracking with objective measurements shared with your practice
  • Ongoing communication to ensure programs align with your treatment plan

Think of us as an extension of your team — providing advanced technology and specialized training between your in-person sessions.

Benefits for Your Patients

Faster Quad Activation

The Volta X uses direct current to lower the activation threshold of inhibited muscles, helping your patients regain quad function faster than traditional PT alone.

Accelerated ROM

When training with the Volta X system, many clients experience noticeable improvements in range of motion from session to session, often progressing toward full flexion and extension earlier than expected.

Improved Strength Gains

By combining the Volta X with functional exercises, our clients build strength more efficiently, often hitting 6 month benchmarks by month 3.

Better Compliance

Our virtual training keeps your patients engaged and accountable between your sessions, ensuring they stay on track with their home exercise programs.

Neuromuscular Re-Education

The Volta X trains the system in two ways: actively and passively. When used during movement, it helps promote more effective neuromuscular engagement — teaching the body how to coordinate and fire under load again. When used passively, in between AACL and PT sessions, the device is indicated to support muscle re-education, reduce muscle spasm, and increase local blood circulation, helping the body prepare for better range, comfort, and readiness in upcoming sessions.

Objective Data

We track range of motion, neuromuscular inhibition, sensory deficits, compensatory strategies, and functional ability throughout your patient's AACL training program. By identifying which sensory inputs your patient's brain perceives as most threatening — and where inhibition or compensation is occurring — we can adjust their sessions with precision and support consistent progress.

The Science Behind the Volta X

The Volta X is an FDA-cleared Class II direct-current (DC) electrical stimulation device. Unlike TENS or EMS units, which use alternating current (AC) primarily for pain modulation or superficial muscle activation, the Volta X delivers pulsed direct current (DC) — allowing for a deeper, more targeted neuromuscular response.

This DC waveform is uniquely suited for muscle re-education, increasing local blood circulation, reducing muscle spasm, and helping maintain or increase range of motion.

Because DC can be used both actively (during movement) and passively (in static positions), the Volta X supports more precise neuromuscular engagement during training while also preparing tissues for better mobility, coordination, and readiness.

  • Lower the activation threshold of inhibited muscles
  • Re-educate neuromuscular pathways during functional movement
  • Improve local circulation to reduce swelling and deliver nutrients
  • Maintain or improve range of motion without causing muscle fatigue

Key Research Findings

Studies on direct current technology show 3x faster quad growth when combined with traditional PT vs. PT alone, improved muscle activation in post-surgical patients, and enhanced tissue healing through improved circulation.

The Accelerate ACL neuromuscular training system has been used by NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA, and Olympic teams for over a decade. It's not experimental — it's proven. See how Saquon Barkley, Grady Jarrett, and other athletes recovered with our program.

How to Refer a Patient

If you have a patient who would benefit from accelerated ACL recovery, the referral process is simple:

  1. Have your patient apply for an in-home trial at accelerateacl.com/apply
  2. We'll contact you to discuss their surgery details, current status, and your treatment plan
  3. We coordinate our virtual sessions around your in-person PT schedule
  4. We share progress data with you every 2 weeks

We're here to support your work, not complicate it.
